About Our Speaker

Dr. Ganz, a medical oncologist, is the director of the division of cancer prevention and control research at the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she directs the UCLA Family Cancer Registry and Genetic Evaluation Program. She is a professor at the UCLA Schools of Public Health & Medicine. In 1999 she was awarded an American Cancer Society Clinical Research Professorship for "Enhancing Patient Outcomes across the Cancer Control Continuum." She was awarded funding to lead UCLA’s Cancer Survivorship Center of Excellence as part of the LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center of Excellence Network in 2006.

Dr. Ganz is a pioneer in the assessment of quality of life in people with cancer and is active in clinical trials research with the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP). She has focused much of her clinical and research efforts in the areas of breast cancer and its prevention.
